With Pete Johnson and Albert Ammons, Meade was one of the US boogie-woogie giants known as ‘The Boogie Woogie Trio’. His contribution and influence over the genre is equal to Albert and Pete’s. He performed with both Pete and Albert at New York’s Carnegie Hall in the 1938 concert ‘From Spirituals to Swing’ which it is said spawned the boogie-woogie craze that lasted well into the 1940s.
