Multi-talented US artist, Lil was a jazz pianist, composer, arranger, singer, and bandleader who was married for a time to horn legend Louis Armstrong. During the second half of the 1930s she was house pianist at Decca and recorded 26 titles although most as a vocalist. She recorded some great boogie-woogie tracks, including the catchy Joogie Boogie:
