Dubbed the ‘Swamp Boogie Queen’, Katie was a US boogie-woogie pianist and singer who defied her religious parents to pursue her musical dream. She was an in demand session player by the age of just 15 and her solid work ethic saw her record on over 500 singles during the 1950s and 1960s. She joined Otis Redding’s touring band in 1965 and subsequently had a successful solo career in the 1980s, during which time she was nominated for three Blues Music Awards.
